What is the Hermosa Beautification Committee?

The Hermosa Neighborhood Association is seeking neighbors to engage in cleanups, planting, and planning of greenspaces in our action-based Beautification Committee.

Committee meetings are monthly, and discuss efforts to keep Hermosa beautiful with green ideas, recruit volunteers for special projects.

//La Asociación de Vecinos de Hermosa está buscando vecinos para participar en la limpieza, plantación y planificación de espacios verdes en nuestro Comité de Embellecimiento basado en acciones.

Our monthly Safety Committee meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm and anyone can join to listen in, or participate in the conversation. Here’s the 2023 Hermosa Safety Meeting schedule. Each meeting can be joined by phone and/or online device.

What a year 2021 has been! The HNA is so proud of it’s Community Outreach Committee for accomplishing many goals this year, and we’d like to showcase some that we have worked hard on to connect with the community despite having limitations due to the COVID pandemic. Here are the 2021 highlights we created, volunteered for, helped promote or had a hand in. Special thanks to Alfonso V, Janette P, Alma K, Connie H and Lee H.

(May 2021) The Hermosa Neighborhood Association has just launched a new Dog Park and Fundraising Committee based on community interest in pursing a city-sanctioned off-leash space for our furry friends to mingle, get exercise and play. Hermosa does not have an off-leash area, which means all dogs must be on a leash outside of your own property. See City of Chicago guidelines.


The goal of the committee is to scout locations, plan a design, fundraise and implement a dog-friendly space. This is an effort that will take numerous volunteers, community engagement and significant fundraising. If other communities can do this, Hermosa sure can!

  • Commitment: 5-10 hours a month. Committee meetings are monthly.

  • Ages: 16+ to 100 (teens can acquire service hours for school requirements)

By scheduling an appointment with a volunteer at the HNA, we spend 30 minutes discussing your interests and ways of volunteering to make a positive impact for our community.

The Hermosa Neighborhood Association is seeking energetic neighbors and business owners to help strategize in our action-based Beautification Committee. This committee focuses on creating a greener and cleaner Hermosa. Seasonal planting, tree management and advocacy, as well as block and park cleanups.

Helpful Skills/Interest But Not Required

Interest in being outdoors, planning or planting gardens, trees, park advocacy and neighborhood trash cleanups.

Commitment
